What Are BINs and VBV?
BIN stands for Bank Identification Number, the first six digits of a payment card that identify the issuing bank and sometimes the card type and country. These numbers are crucial for routing transactions correctly and for validating cards during purchases.
Verified by Visa (VBV) is a security protocol that adds an extra layer of authentication when making online transactions. It requires cardholders to verify their identity—often through a password or code—to prevent unauthorized use. A non-VBV BIN means the card associated with that BIN is not enrolled or does not require VBV authentication.
